God can and will heal in many ways. It is his will and desire for people to be well. Yet many of us, myself included, have had many prayers, many people laying their hands on us, we have begged and pleaded with God with no seeming results.
Twice in my life I have had long-term chronic sickness and pain. The first time was an undiagnosable stomach sickness which lasted ten years. The second time was chronic headaches which lasted almost fifteen years yet I didn’t get healed by observing these scriptural principles:
Mark 16:18 They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.
James 5:14-15 14 Is anyone among you sick? He should call in the church elders (the spiritual guides). And they should pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Lord’s name. 15 And the prayer [that is] of faith will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (All scriptures are from the Amplified Bible) In the end the only way that I got healed was by immersing myself in and believing the following scriptures. In doing this I came to the conclusion that the devil wanted me sick but that God wanted me well and had already provided healing for me at the cross and what I needed to do was believe that it was already mine, receive it and stand on the truth of it regardless of the current symptoms at the time. Both times it wasn’t easy….the symptoms screamed “you are not healed!”
When I did believe and stand for both of these chronic sicknesses, over time I was healed. Why did it happen that way and not the other ways? My personal belief based on my own experience and the experience of others in the body of Christ is that I did not know what really belonged to me and I was trying to get something that was already mine. When I allowed the following scriptures to sink deep into my heart and believed that healing was already paid for by Jesus and therefore was already mine, the healings manifested over time.
I make the comparison of the free gift of eternal life and the forgiveness of sins that was provided for me two thousand years ago. It was a done deal then and all I did 1900 years later was believe it and receive it. If I had not done that, the benefit of what Jesus did for me on the cross would not have changed my life and eternal future. It was there all the time but I didn’t know it, until I heard it, believed it and received it. Afterwards I had to fight doubt about it many times….I don’t any longer. I propose to you that life in abundance, which includes health and healing, was paid for by Jesus Christ and all we need to do simply is believe that, receive it and not be shaken by current symptoms and thoughts to the contrary. I’m not saying it’s easy, but I am saying it works.
Please read and meditate and absorb the following scriptures. Get them into your heart and then choose to believe and receive for yourself.
Isaiah 53:4-5 4 Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
Notice the past tense “He has borne.”
Psalm 103:3 3 Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases. If David, who lived under the law in a covenant inferior to ours, could get this revelation why shouldn’t we?
Proverbs 4:20-22 20 My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. 22 For they are life to those who find them, healing and health to all their flesh. The truth of God’s word becomes health to our bodies.
Matthew 8:17 And thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities and bore away our diseases. Note the past tense!
1 Peter 2:24 24 He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed. Note the past tense!
John 10:10 10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
Fullness of life includes health and healing!
1 John 3:8 ….The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done].
Acts 10:38 38 How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him. Sickness is mainly from the devil but Jesus came to destroy his work and break his oppressions! We rebuke the forces of darkness and receive and believe.
James 1:17 17Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse]. I don’t find anything good in sickness so how could it be from my father!
Hebrews 10:23 23 So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.
2 Corinthians 5:7 7 For we walk by faith and not by sight. By faith we believe we have heaven and forgiveness of sins why not have healing by faith also?
Acts 2:24 24 God is not a respecter of persons. If he will do it for one he will do it for me….If He will do it for me He will do it for YOU!
Mark 6:5 5 And He was not able to do even one work of power there, except that He laid His hands on a few sickly people [and] cured them. (because of unbelief) We must read, meditate and absorb the word of God and his promises so that we can have faith and not limit the power of God for healing!
Mark 11:24 24For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it]. Believe and receive first….then….it will happen!
2 Corinthians 10:5 5 [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),
When we take the step to believe that healing has already been provided for us there will be many, many thoughts that come into our mind to contradict that fact. We are responsible take those thoughts captive and hold them up to the truth of God’s word and promises regardless of what we are feeling at the moment. Download this PDF
